問題八：新聞英語的新聞英語的翻譯翻譯英語新聞報道，要顧及其文體特點，在遣詞造句和謀篇布局上都應使譯文適如其所譯。具體需注意的是：1）要準確理解一些常用詞語在新聞英語中的特定含義。如前所述，新聞英語有自己特定的一套慣用詞匯，因此譯者首先應準確理解這些詞在新聞英語中的特定含義。否則極易張冠李戴，造成誤譯2）要注意使譯文的文體風格與原文相適應。總的來說，新聞英語語言正式程度適中，有時還帶有一些會話語體色彩，所以譯文語言不可太雅，亦不可過俗。但是，因為一些作者常在報道中引用當事人或其他相關人士的話語，也因一些作者有時會使用幾個俚俗詞語，所以譯文語言的正式程度應盡可能與原文保持一致。此外，還應注意大報新聞語言特點與小報新聞文體特點的區別。一般說來，像《泰晤士報》、《 *** 》一類的大報文體較為嚴肅正規，而像《每日鏡報》、《紐約郵報》一類的小報則大多語言輕松活潑，詞語正式程度偏低。因此譯者必須認真分析原文的文體特點，使譯文與原文保持文體上的一致。3）處理好新聞中的新詞和生造詞。如遇新詞和生造詞，首先可依據英語構詞法對其在詞形上加以辨析，比如找出該詞的詞根或詞綴，以幫助理解其詞意。另外要從詞的聯立關系和上下文中，即該詞與其它詞的搭配、組合和它的各種語境中去尋找線索，判斷該詞可能的意義。如果經以上考證后仍不得其意，則可給出該詞的音譯，并在隨后的括號內寫上原英文詞，必要時還可加腳注。這里所說的新詞就是那些字典中查不到的詞，那些按照你原先知道的詞意譯出但又發現語意邏輯不通的詞。4）行文要力求簡明。語言要平實，不可浮華夸張，不要摻雜個人感情，在名詞前加修飾語時應慎重。5） 翻譯時不要為某些動詞的時態所惑，注意原文的一些特殊語法現象。如 Largest Chinese trade delegation to visit US in Nov. 中省去了to前的is，Deposits, loans rising in HK意為Deposits and loans are rising in HK.， 而 2 Workmen Injured in Electrical Accident則意為2 Workmen Are Injured…。6）標題翻譯要盡量與原文一樣簡短，要注重譯文能象原文一樣傳神達意。例如: Four Killed and Five Hurt in a House Fire 可譯為房屋起火五傷四亡；Soccer kicks off with Violence可譯為足球開賽腳踢拳打。
