當前，在初中階段，學生所使用的教材主要有內種:人教版(新日標)和河北教育版(俗稱冀教版》。兩種教材覆蓋了全國人多數的學校。這兩種教村的區別如下: 二、從內容編排上來看，人教版內容與時事政治的聯系更為緊密，體現近期發生的名人事件，對學生的道德教育方面很有信褲用處。冀教版在對話方面的篇幅占得更多一些，所選的文章覆蓋面廣，但時效性不強。從內容上看，人教版側重語言應用能力，冀教版側重基礎性東西的學習。另外，人教版的練習題貫 穿于沒課的內容之中，冀教版教材的練習題作為每個單元最后一課的內容。 相比較來說，人教版涵蓋了聽力和寫作內容的練習，冀教版只涵蓋了一些對詞匯和語法內容的考查，末體現聽力內容考查，這一點略為不足。從難度上看，冀教版的內容難度稍高于人教版。從內容的靈活性來說，人教版要更好激攔一些。比如:人教版在每個單元的SelfCheck下面安排了JustforFun欄月,給與枯燥的學習添加了些許趣味。
